Note from FloodMapper: This flood record highlights the incident that began on Boxing Day 2015 and ultimately lead to the collapse of Tadcaster Bridge. On 26 December 2015, the main bridge in Tadcaster was closed due to safety concerns following heavy rains from Storm Eva. The town started to flood that same day. By the evening of 29 December, the bridge had partially collapsed, causing a gas main fracture and leading to the evacuation of hundreds of residents. A Severe Flood Warning (danger to life) was issued, and the bridge remained closed until February 2017.
